Lettuce

Lettuce is a type of herbaceous vegetable that belongs to the Asteraceae family.

They are low in calories, fats, and sodium. Moreover, they are a good source of dietary fibre, iron, folic acid, and vitamin C, as well as other bioactive compounds that are healthy supplements to our diet.

AVAILABILITY
The lettuce season starts during the coldest months of the year, being between November and May the best moment for their harvesting.

FLAVOUR AND TEXTURE
Lettuce varieties go from those with a very mild flavour, like romaine lettuce (cos), to those with spicier flavours, depending on the varieties. Its texture can be soft or a bit crunchy depending on the type as well.

SIZE AND COLOUR
Generally, lettuce colours are green, although some varieties have whitish, yellow, reddish or brown leaves. Their size usually varies between 20 and 30 centimeters in diameter, depending on the variety.
