Broccoli

The Brassicaceae family, also known as cruciferous, includes about 4,000 species and one of them is broccoli.

Broccoli is a good source of fibre and protein and it has a great amount of essential nutrients like iron, potassium, calcium, selenium, and magnesium, as well as vitamins A, C, E, K, and a great variety of vitamins B, including folic acid.

AVAILABILITY
This vegetable is harvested especially during the cooler months of the year: from November until May

FLAVOUR AND TEXTURE
Broccoli, with its fleshy and crunchy texture, has an earthy and herb-like flavour that is slightly bitter. Although most of the time we eat just the flowers, the entire plant is edible.

SIZE AND COLOUR

Broccoli has dark green, tight florets with a thick, hard stalk. Its size can significantly vary, being 500 grams their average weight and 10-20 centimeters its common size.
